Are you building an AI strategy, or just an AI expense?

Buying an enterprise-level license to Copilot and telling everyone to "use it" is not an AI integration strategy.

PwC's 2026 Banking Outlook highlights what a truly strategic AI embrace could mean for a firm's bottom line…and it's big; a 15-percentage-point improvement in the banking firm's efficiency ratio. Even if your firm is not a bank and tracks by different metrics, the potential shift is potentially just as game-changing…maybe even more so.

Assuming it's even just a 10% boost for your firm. For instance, for a mid-size RIA with $10M in revenue, that 10% represents an extra $1M in annual operating income. It's the difference between a firm that is forever "at capacity" (or, let's be honest, beyond capacity…) and one that has the operating leverage to scale.

But there is a catch. The research found that the winners won't be those who merely layer new tech onto old habits. Real progress happens when firms take a long, hard look in the mirror at their value chain and decide exactly where, at what moments in the movement of information, humans should lead and where agents are well-suited to handling the heavy lifting.

With the right leadership, the vision here is truly not to replace employees, but to enable them to innovate and excel in the moments that matter (with fewer time constraints) in ways previously unimaginable…think of it as giving them the right to delight.

FinServ companies (indeed, most all companies) have the chance now to thoughtfully assess and selectively implement strategic AI-driven changes that essentially give their human employees a more realistic amount of work hours to devote to:

  • Build differentiating, deep connections with clients where even their unspoken needs get discovered.
  • Humanize their clients' financial services experience in ways that a machine simply cannot.

We'd much prefer to share the office (or Zoom room…) with AI agent-augmented human associates versus autonomous bots, wouldn't you?
